A Queen Anne Victorian in Glen Cove is on the market for nearly $1.8 million. The taxes are $21,001.

The house was constructed around 1895, according to building inventory records. It contains four bedrooms and three bathrooms, totaling 3,862 square feet. The property is in the Glen Cove City School District.

The house sits on a little over an acre of land, on Red Spring Lane.

"It's very private," said listing agent Denise Boccio, of Compass. "The house is pushed back enough, and in the Red Spring Colony, it's a big deal to have an acre."

During the Gilded Age, "the Red Spring Colony was one giant estate," Boccio said. "And then they subdivided everything."

Building inventory records show the house once belonged to the Weeks family, who "sold their asparagus farm and their homestead to the Red Spring Colony developers."

The original hardwood flooring has been maintained throughout the home, Boccio said. Its mahogany wraparound porch has been updated. Between 2015 and 2016, the windows, water heater and HVAC system were upgraded, too.

Plus, "the kitchen is newly updated," said Boccio. "They have all stainless steel appliances."

The refrigerator is tucked away within two large cabinets that match the rest of the sleek, white detailing and gold finishes in the kitchen, "so it still gives that old-school elegance and charm to it," Boccio said.

The backyard boasts a patio with an in-ground pool. In the winter, barren trees reveal a view of Hempstead Bay that can be taken in from the front porch.

"It's just really tranquil and relaxing," Boccio said. "It's a gorgeous lot."
