Set against pale yellow board and batten siding, frilly white trim lines the eaves of a 2,100-square-foot house on Roslyn's Main Street.

The three-bed, two-bath home across from Gerry Park is on the market for $1.3 million, listed by Suzi Chase for Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. Taxes on the 0.22-acre lot, which falls within the Roslyn Union Free School District, total $15,218.

Chase, who specializes in historic homes, said she had gone through records at the Bryant Library, Roslyn Landmark Society and local building department to try to find historical information on the house.

"There is very, very little that has ever been published about it," Chase said.

A building-structure inventory form filed with the New York State Parks and Recreation Division for Historic Preservation identifies the home as the W. H. Cornell house and indicates the address is in the historic district.

The form states the Gothic Revival-style home was built in 1864. A separate property record lists a build year of 1788; the reason for the discrepancy is unclear.

The home is fully renovated, Chase said. A 2025 project included new roofing and flooring, the addition of skylights and central air conditioning, an updated kitchen and updated bathrooms, according to the listing.

"The current owners have come in and they have basically rebuilt the house, but leaving all the architectural features that were there initially," Chase said. "It has really interesting wrought-iron casement windows across the front, and diamond-paned windows on both sides of the entry hall."

An archway separates the living room from the dining room, she said. There are a bedroom on the first floor and a finished basement. The sellers have also updated the electrical, plumbing and alarm systems, Chase added.

"It's really a brand new house inside an existing, wonderful, old house," Chase said.
