A house with an A-frame, reminiscent of a chalet, is on the market in Southold for $999,999. The taxes are approximately $10,000. An offer is pending.
The home's distinct, triangular structure is "rarely seen" on Long Island's East End, said listing agent Alexis Meadows, of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
"Most [prospective buyers] have commented on the A-frame being the focal point within the house," Meadows said. "The light that it draws in, the exposed beams to the point — it just creates interest."

The Highwood Road house contains two bedrooms and one bathroom. It sits on an oversized lot in the Southold Union Free School District.
"It is two parcels that have been merged together, creating 1.37 acres," Meadows said. "So it has extensive privacy, and the land provides opportunity for the new ownership to really expand a vision there."

Other standout features include a wraparound deck, outdoor fire pit, an attached two-car garage and an upper level loft, overlooking the living room. The loft space also has access to a small rooftop terrace, which faces the backyard.
On the East End, homes listed below $1 million are "very advantageous for first-time owners or investors" looking to break into this location, Meadows said.

In Southold, nine single-family homes have sold under $1 million so far this year, with closing prices ranging from $535,000 to $899,000, according to OneKey MLS data. That includes four cottages, four ranches and a farmhouse.
But the architectural style of this listing makes it stand out within the community, Meadows said: "In terms of homes on the East End of Long Island, this would be a one-of-a-kind offering."
