Greetings from Citi Field, where it's pouring and the tarp is on the field. The forecast is shaky, at best.

Anyway, I've been distracted from the Mets because of this silly story about Major League Baseball investigating Alex Rodriguez for his alleged involvement in illegal poker games.

Yes, it's silly. Look, MLB is doing its due diligence. It can't shrug off reports that A-Rod is doing this stuff, especially when he already had been warned about participating in these games. There'll be the requisite meeting where A-Rod discusses this stuff with MLB's fake cops.

But getting suspended for this? As Ilene said on this episode of "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "LOL."

A-Rod hasn't been accused, indicted or convicted of doing a darn thing. Believe it or not, there's nothing in baseball's collective bargaining agreement that covers "ignoring the commissioner's previous warning." The warning system works pretty well when I'm telling my son not to splash me in the pool. Not so much when you're talking about workers' rights.

To put it another way, there's a better chance of A-Rod winning the World Series of Poker than MLB suspending him.

If true, should A-Rod have played in the games? Of course not. He would've used poor judgment to do so. It certainly wouldn't be the first time, and it probably won't be the last.

So we'll get some big headlines here, and at some point, A-Rod will be asked questions about it. Maybe he'll apologize. Maybe he'll simply not comment.

Definitely, life will go on, and when 26th-century anthropologists study this episode, they'll undoubtedly say, "Gosh, they sure weren't a very impressive species, eh?"

--Have a good night.
