Angels earn split with romp over Bosox

Rookie Mark Trumbo hit his sixth homer of the season and the Los Angeles Angels salvaged a series split in Boston, racking up 18 hits while shutting out the Red Sox, 11-0, Thursday.
Bobby Abreu drove in three runs for the Angels, who were 0-6 against the Red Sox entering the four-game series.
"We came in this morning and got the bats rolling early," said Howie Kendrick, one of three Angels with a pair of RBIs. "It definitely feels good to get the last two, especially after they swept us."
After a rain-delayed 5-3 win in 13 innings early Thursday, the Angels chased Boston's John Lackey (2-4) in the fifth after scoring eight runs on 10 hits.
Joel Piñeiro (1-0) held Boston to three hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Rays 3, Blue Jays 1: David Price (4-3) allowed one unearned run in 8 2/3 innings and Johnny Damon got his 2,600th career hit for host Tampa Bay.
Indians 4, Athletics 3: Jack Hannahan and Lou Marson had RBI singles in the 12th inning for visiting Cleveland. Ryan Sweeney had a career-high five hits and added two RBIs for Oakland.
Royals 9, Orioles 1: Melky Cabrera had four RBIs and Bruce Chen (4-1) pitched seven strong innings for host Kansas City.
Phillies 7, Nationals 3: Roy Halladay (5-1) struck out 10 in seven sharp innings and Raul Ibañez and Shane Victorino homered as host Philadelphia completed a three-game sweep.
Braves 2, Brewers 1: Martin Prado hit a tiebreaking homer in the eighth inning and Eric Hinske also homered as host Atlanta completed a four-game sweep.
Cardinals 6, Marlins 3: Matt Holliday had two hits and two RBIs and Albert Pujols singled three times for host St. Louis against Josh Johnson (3-1). Lance Berkman hit his 10th homer and had four RBIs.
Reds 10, Astros 4: Homer Bailey (1-0) returned from the disabled list with six strong innings and Ryan Hanigan had three hits and three RBIs for host Cincinnati. -- AP
