Jeremy Hellickson won his major-league debut, Matt Joyce had two RBIs and the host Rays beat the Twins, 4-2, last night to tie the Yankees for first place in the AL East. Hellickson allowed two runs and three hits in seven innings, helping the Rays win for the ninth time in 10 games.

Indians 6, Red Sox 5

Fausto Carmona rebounded from his worst start of the season with seven solid innings and Shelley Duncan had a career-high four hits for visiting Cleveland.

The victory proved costly, though. Cleveland catcher Carlos Santana was taken off the field on a stretcher with his left leg in an air cast after blocking home for an out in the seventh inning. There was no immediate word on the extent of his injury.

Adrian Beltre belted two homers and drove in five runs for Boston.

Brewers 18, Cubs 1

Prince Fielder drove in five runs and had five of visiting Milwaukee's 26 hits, and Yovani Gallardo tied a season high with 12 strikeouts. The Cubs tied a 53-year-old franchise record for hits allowed. Corey Hart, who just signed a three-year, $26.5-million contract extension, had four hits for the Brewers.

Astros 9, Cardinals 4

Jeff Keppinger had two hits and four RBIs, including a key hit during a go-ahead three-run eighth inning, and visiting Houston won its sixth straight. St. Louis' Albert Pujols homered for the third straight game.
