Baseball roundup: White Sox rally without Ozzie

Alex Rios hit a walk-off two-run homer in the ninth inning after Paul Konerko homered as host Chicago scored three in the bottom of the ninth to beat Seattle, 5-4.

In the top of the inning, Casey Kotchman hit a two-run ground-rule double to give the Mariners a two-run lead. Kotcham's drive to right was picked by a fan and umpire Gary Cederstrom declared the play dead after a run scored, but the umpiring crew overruled the call and allowed pinch-runner Jack Wilson to score from first. White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was ejected after questioning the call and was in the clubhouse when his team rallied.

"I was watching a soap opera from Telemundo," Guillen said. "I think I found the trick, I think they play better without Ozzie managing."

Rays 9, Blue Jays 3

Jason Bartlett and Ben Zobrist drove in two runs apiece during a seven-run eighth inning and John Jaso hit his first major-league homer for host Tampa Bay.

Indians 6, Athletics 1

Mark Grudzielanek hit a tiebreaking RBI single with two outs in the eighth inning for visiting Cleveland. Fausto Carmona (3-0) went 7 1/3 innings for the win. Austin Kearns had three hits and three RBIs for the Indians.

Dodgers 4, Nationals 3

Russell Martin lined a two-out RBI single off Miguel Batista in the 13th inning and Casey Blake threw out the potential tying run at home in the bottom half of the inning after homering twice for visiting Los Angeles.

Padres 5, Reds 0

Adrian Gonzalez homered for the second straight day and Wade LeBlanc pitched three-hit ball for six innings as visiting San Diego won their eighth straight.

Marlins 4, Rockies 1

Ricky Nolasco went eight innings and Dan Uggla and Brett Carroll each homered, leading visiting Florida past Colorado in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Astros 5, Pirates 2

Wandy Rodriguez struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings to earn his first win of the season for host Houston. Pittsburgh's Chris Jakubauskas, called up Friday for his first start, was hit behind the right ear by a Lance Berkman line drive. He was conscious when carted off the field and will stay in a hospital overnight for observation.- AP
