Josh Beckett pitched a one-hitter and Kevin Youkilis hit a three-run homer to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 3-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays Wednesday night.
One day after James Shields cooled Boston's red-hot offense with a five-hit shutout that stopped a nine-game winning streak for the AL East leaders, Beckett (6-2) limited the Rays to Reid Brignac's third-inning infield single while striking out six and walking none.
Youkilis homered off Jeremy Hellickson (7-5) in the seventh, ending the rookie righthander's streak of consecutive innings without allowing a run at home to 24.
The Red Sox were held to one hit before Dustin Pedroia tripled and AL batting leader Adrian Gonzalez drew an intentional walk ahead of Youkilis.
Blue Jays 4, Orioles 1: Ricky Romero allowed three hits in eight innings and Adam Lind, Yunel Escobar and Juan Rivera each hit home runs in Toronto. Romero (6-6) tied a career high with 12 strikeouts.
Phillies 8, Marlins 1: Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer and Wilson Valdez a three-run triple for host Philadelphia in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. Rollins and Valdez had their big hits in a six-run third inning against Florida starter Elih Villanueva (0-1). Villanueva threw 92 pitches and lasted three innings in his major- league debut for the Marlins, who lost their fifth straight.
Reds 7, Dodgers 2: Scott Rolen had three hits and drove in three runs and Ryan Hanigan and Fred Lewis each drove in two runs as visiting Cincinnati completed its first three-game sweep of Los Angeles since 2004.
Rockies 6, Padres 3: Jhoulys Chacin (8-4) scattered three hits in six sharp innings and Seth Smith hit a tiebreaking single as part of a five-run sixth for host Colorado.

The Angels have given up on struggling lefthander Scott Kazmir, releasing the once promising starter. Kazmir, on the disabled list since April 8 with lower back soreness, was pitching at Triple-A Salt Lake. In five starts, he had a 17.02 ERA in 15 1/3 innings.
