Bobby Valentine defends Vicente Padilla

Vicente Padilla, pilloried after Friday's game by Mark Teixeira, wasn't in the clubhouse before Game 1. Bobby Valentine defended his reliever, whom Teixeira had ripped for throwing at batters. Said Valentine, "What I've seen, he's been a terrific teammate. He's been a guy who's taken the ball every day that we wanted him to.''
