One casualty of the decision to try Lyle Overbay in the outfield was Brennan Boesch, who was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the second time this season. Boesch was batting .275 with three homers and eight RBIs. David Adams, who has impressed the Yankees during his brief major-league stint, started at third base over Youkilis against righthander Justin Masterson.
