Buster Posey and Yadier Molina are the National League's top All-Star vote-getters but only one can start in the Midsummer Classic.
The Giants' catcher and the Cardinals' catcher are first and second in the voting, respectively. Posey is ahead of Molina by a margin of 2,606,434 to 2,543,588 in the latest MLB.com poll results released Sunday. The Mets' John Buck is a distant third with 866,471 votes.
Molina, who leads the league with a .352 batting average, cut Posey's lead from 277,161 last week to just 62,846.
Third base is another close race, with Posey's teammate Pablo Sandoval holding a slim edge over the Mets' David Wright. Wright, who lost out to Sandoval by a narrow margin last year, currently trails by roughly 125,000 votes.
Fans have until July 4 at 11:59 p.m. to get Wright into the starting lineup on his homefield. The All-Star Game will be played on July 16 at Citi Field.
