Endy Chavez had four hits and the visiting Texas Rangers overcame a three-run deficit to beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-4, Thursday night.

Yorvit Torrealba drove in two runs and Nelson Cruz twice doubled to start three-run rallies as the defending AL champions won for the fourth time in their last five road games.

Former Met Chavez is hitting .415 (17-for-41) since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on May 14.

The Indians dropped to 19-7 at home and 20-7 when scoring first, but still have the best record in the AL.

Twins 8, Royals 2: Michael Cuddyer drove in two runs and Anthony Swarzak (1-2) pitched six effective innings as visiting Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak.

Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs for Kansas City.

Giants 12, Cardinals 7: Aubrey Huff hit three home runs and matched his career best with six RBIs for visiting San Francisco.

Colby Rasmus hit his second career grand slam and had a career-best six RBIs for St. Louis.

Mauer catches again

Rehabilitating Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer caught three innings in an extended spring training game in Fort Myers, Fla., his first action on defense since he was sent to the 15-day disabled list nearly two months ago with weakness and soreness in his legs.

Mauer went 0-for-5 with two flyouts and three groundouts against Tampa Bay Rays minor- leaguers. "There's a lot of pain gone, which is good," Mauer said. " . . . Getting back here today, moving around, I felt pretty good."-- AP
