Chris Young, who’s trying to make it back from the shoulder surgery he had a year ago, will make his next rehab start in Buffalo Thursday. Sandy Alderson said Josh Thole, who’s been out since May 7 with a concussion, will catch Young after serving as the Bisons’ DH Wednesday. Thole could be back in the majors Friday. Young, though, still has a ways to go.

“It was Chris’ idea to move to Buffalo,” Alderson said. “So I think from that standpoint, it was a real encouraging sign and he felt that he was ready to move . . . I would say he would need more than one start in Buffalo.”

...R.A. Dickey was named NL player of the week . . . Alderson “fully expects” reliever Pedro Beato (shoulder) will be ready to pitch when he’s eligible to come off the DL on Sunday.
