Contest: "Finding Buck McHenry"
"Finding Buck McHenry" is a film made for Showtime, back in 2001, about a baseball-loving youngster who, in the process, of forming his own Little League team, thinks he has tracked down a former Negro League star, played by the great Ossie Davis, now living a new life.
It's not award-winning stuff, but it's solid entertainment. Quite suitable for families.
And now I'll give my copy to the first person who e-mails me - at kdavidoff@newsday.com - with the correct answer to this question:
Ernie Banks appears in the film as another former Negro Leagues player, Ollie Johnson. Banks ranks second all-time on the Cubs' career home run list, with 512. Who is the only player with more home runs in a Cubs uniform than Banks?
--Here are the contest rules.
--UPDATE, 12:28 p.m.: We have a winner! Our very own Richie G. knew that Sammy Sosa, with 545, is the only man with more home runs in a Cubs uniform than Ernie Banks.
