Contest: Win a book about the 1978 Yankees-Red Sox playoff game
We first gave away a copy of "The Greatest Game," by Richard Bradley, last year, here. It turns out that I had a second copy that I just found, so let's give that away, too.
I'll mail this hardcover copy to the first person who e-mails me - at kdavidoff@newsday.com - with the correct answer to this question:
In the Oct. 2, 1978 one-game playoff between the Yankees and Red Sox, only one player reached base safely three times. Name the player.
UPDATE, 2:50 p.m.: We have a winner! Pete from Yonkers knew that Mickey Rivers, by hitting a double and drawing two walks, was the one player to reach base three times in the all-time game.
