Damon's homer in 10th leads Rays

Johnny Damon hit a two-run homer with one out in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Tampa Bay Rays a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Twins Thursday night.
Carl Pavano pitched eight shutout innings for the Twins, but was denied the victory when closer Joe Nathan gave up a two-run double to Matt Joyce in the ninth.
The Twins regained the lead in the 10th on Danny Valencia's RBI single off Kyle Farnsworth (0-1). But Damon hit his third homer off Matt Capps (1-1).
"Going up to that last at-bat, I'm 0-for-4 in the game and really couldn't do anything off Pavano,'' Damon said. "But you learn how to forget about it."
Royals 5, Mariners 1: Bruce Chen (2-0) pitched eight strong innings and Wilson Betemit and Alex Gordon each drove in two runs as host Kansas City won a rain-shortened game called in the bottom of the eighth.
Marlins 6, Braves 5: Five relievers combined for four scoreless innings and John Buck drove in the go-ahead run with a seventh-inning single for visiting Florida.
Brewers 4, Pirates 1: Randy Wolf allowed three hits and struck out 10 in 62/3 innings and Yuniesky Betancourt's sacrifice fly gave visiting Milwaukee a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Astros 1, Padres 0: Bud Norris (1-1) and the Houston bullpen combined on a three-hitter and Michael Bourn drove in the run in the sixth for ths host Astros.
Lincecum adds to Fund
Giants ace Tim Lincecum is giving $25,000 to assist the longtime San Francisco fan who was attacked outside Dodger Stadium last month. The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner's donation will go to the Bryan Stow Fund to help with the 42-year-old paramedic's medical bills and other expenses. The father of two was beaten in a parking lot outside Dodger Stadium after the teams' March 31 season opener and remains hospitalized in Los Angeles in a medically induced coma. No arrests have been made despite a $150,000 reward. -- AP
