MINNEAPOLIS — Righthanded reliever David Aardsma, who has not pitched since Sept. 19, 2010, while recovering from Tommy John surgery, also was activated.
But don’t look for the reliever, who saved 38 games for the Mariners in 2009 and 31 in 2010, to be inserted in any close games.
“We’re going to have to pick a spot to get him in there,’’ Joe Girardi said.
"He hasn’t pitched in the big leagues in a long time so we’ll have to be careful where we use him.
...It won't probably be in a close game, you wouldn't think, to start out."
