Derek Jeter will miss his second straight game against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday.
Joe Girardi decided to rest the 39-year-old Saturday with a regular day off, but Newsday's Anthony Rieber reported Sunday that Jeter is dealing with a tight right quadriceps. Rieber also reported Jeter could be used in an emergency Sunday.
The Yankees have their first day off of the season on Monday, and Jeter is expected to return Tuesday for the start of a two-game series against the Chicago Cubs that will end their homestand.
Jeter is hitting .286 with an RBI and three runs scored in 10 games this season.
