ESPN trade: Francona replaces Valentine
ESPN announced during halftime of its "Monday Night Football" telecast that former Red Sox manager Terry Francona will replace Bobby Valentine in the "Sunday Night Baseball" booth in 2012. Francona appeared on the network's set from the winter meetings in Dallas.
So, in effect, Francona and Valentine -- who last week was named Red Sox manager -- traded jobs. Francona, who got rave reviews when he filled in for Tim McCarver on Fox during the ALCS, will work alongside play-by-play man Dan Shulman and fellow analyst Orel Hershiser.
