How excited are the Mets about Matt Harvey’s Citi Field debut, which will come Friday night against the Braves?

Well, the marketing department sure is excited. The Mets sent out an email blast Thursday touting the rookie’s home debut and included a photo of Harvey appearing to square off against Mets nemesis Chipper Jones.

Of course, Harvey has never faced Jones. His first three starts were out West against Arizona, San Francisco and San Diego. He is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA. Harvey said he expects about 100 family members and friends from Mystic, Conn., to be on hand Friday night .

“It’s another day,” he said. “It’s another pitching experience. It’s a new ballpark to pitch in for me. I know it’s home. That’s the extra excitement. I get to pitch in front of the Mets fans and my family and I’m really excited about that.”

Lefthander Paul Maholm (9-7, 3.75) is scheduled to start for the Braves, which means Jason Bay should be in the lineup for the only time in the three-game series.
