Ichiro Suzuki hit leadoff for only the second time since joining the Yankees. Derek Jeter hit second.
“[He’s] had some success off James Shields,’’ Joe Girardi said of Ichiro, who had been 14-for-46 (.304) against Shields. “Just a one-day [thing].’’
Ichiro went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run. Jeter had an RBI single, his 198th hit.
