Jason Giambi as Rockies manager? Don't laugh, says Ron Darling

The news that former Yankee Jason Giambi is going to get an interview for the Colorado Rockies manager position drew snickers in some quarters Tuesday because of the slugger's freewheeling ways and the difficultly of imagining him as an authority figure.
But Ron Darling, a teammate of Giambi's with Oakland in 1995, said he thinks it might actually work.
"I think Jason has a love for the game," said Darling, who is calling the ALCS for TBS. "He has a lot of energy and if you ask anyone who's ever played with him, they love him. He would be a player's manager."
