ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver is slated to pitch Thursday after skipping a start to rest his right shoulder tendinitis.

Manager Mike Scioscia says Weaver expects to start the series finale against the Oakland Athletics at Angel Stadium.

Weaver took a break last week after struggling through his previous five starts with a flare-up of tendinitis. His arm apparently responded well to the rest, with Weaver throwing 49 pitches with no problems in a bullpen session Monday.

Jerome Williams is taking a spot start in the Angels' rotation Tuesday against the A's. The veteran right-hander was Los Angeles' fifth starter at the beginning of the season, but lost his spot while injured.

Weaver (16-4) is second in the AL in victories and third in ERA (2.86).
