Jeremy Hefner picked up his first big-league win and hit a home run on Tuesday, but Terry Collins would not guarantee him a start on Monday against St. Louis with Miguel Batista throwing a rehab game for Double-A Binghamton Wednesday night.
Batista, who has been on the DL since May 20 with a lower back strain, allowed five runs (four earned) in seven innings vs. Reading.
Josh Thole (concussion) is scheduled to catch Chris Young at 10:30 a.m. Thursday for Buffalo. The game against Columbus will be broadcast live on MLB Network.
