Joba Chamberlain signs with Tigers, reports say

Joba Chamberlain, the electric reliever turned fragile starter turned inconsistent reliever turned headache, is now someone else's enigma.

Chamberlain has agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Tigers, according to multiple reports.

Chamberlain spawned numerous marketing opportunities upon arriving in the Yankees bullpen in August 2007 and pitching to a 0.38 ERA as Mariano Rivera's set-up man. For a period, you could hardly walk a block in New York City without seeing an "In Joba We Trust" shirt on someone.

But after a stint as a starter proved ineffective, Chamberlain ultimately became untrustworthy in the Yankees bullpen.

He had a 4.93 ERA in 2013, struggling to find a role. He finishes his seven seasons with the Yankees 23-14 with a 3.85 ERA in 260 games (43 starts).
