Report: Alex Rodriguez caught flirting during ALCS Game 1 loss

Alex Rodriguez can't win.

Tuesday's New York Post featured an article on the struggling slugger trying to get a couple of female Yankee fans' phone numbers. Normally, no one would bat an eye at the news, after all, A-Rod isn't married any longer.

Only problem is that he was reportedly making his move during the Yankees' 6-4 extra-inning loss in Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. Yes, that would be the same game during which Derek Jeter broke his ankle. A-Rod, meanwhile, was pinch-hit for in the eighth inning of that game.

That couldn't have helped his standing with the ladies.

Meanwhile the pitcher he'll (likely) be facing Tuesday night, Justin Verlander, is reportedly dating Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Kate Upton. Verlander's grandfather and Upton's uncle have let the secret slip.

Maybe there really is no beating Verlander.
