Konerko replaces Morneau on All-Star team

Paul Konerko was chosen to replace injured Justin Morneau on the AL All-Star team yesterday.

Morneau will miss the game Tuesday night in Anaheim, Calif., because of a concussion. The Twins' slugging first baseman withdrew following a doctor's advice, and will return to Minnesota to rest during the break.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi, the AL skipper, selected Konerko to be Morneau's replacement on the roster. The White Sox first baseman is batting .299 with 20 home runs and 63 RBIs.

Morneau didn't play yesterday, missing his third straight game, and won't be in the lineup for the series finale against the Detroit Tigers today.- AP
