Lackey knocked out after 3 as Boston loses
Wade Davis threw a six-hitter, John Jaso hit a three-run homer and the host Tampa Bay Rays moved within 51/2 games of AL wild-card leading Boston with a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox on Friday night.
Davis (10-8) struck out eight in his second career complete game. Jaso put the Rays ahead 3-0 with a three-run homer off John Lackey (12-12) in the second. Lackey gave up RBI singles to Johnny Damon and Matt Joyce in the third to make it 5-0. Then Jaso hit him off the left leg and Lackey left with a bruised calf after the inning. Boston has lost five of six.
Tigers 8, Twins 4: Alex Avila hit a three-run homer in the second inning and Ramon Santiago a two-run shot in the fourth to help host Detroit rally from a 4-0 deficit for their seventh straight victory.
Indians 8, White Sox 4: Lonnie Chisenhall hit a pair of two-run homers in Chicago.
Rangers 13, Athletics 4: Colby Lewis (12-10) pitched into the eighth inning for his first victory in nearly a month and Michael Young drove in four runs for host Texas.
Phillies 5, Brewers 3: Ryan Howard homered in his return to the lineup and Roy Halladay (17-5) struck out nine in eight innings in Milwaukee.
Cardinals 4, Braves 3: Albert Pujols hit a two-run single to tie it in the ninth and Nick Punto won it with a sacrifice fly in the 10th in St. Louis.
Diamondbacks 3, Padres 2: Lyle Overbay singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth in Phoenix.
Marlins 13, Pirates 4: Omar Infante and Logan Morrison homered during a nine-run third inning in Pittsburgh.
