The Mets have added LaTroy Hawkins to their bullpen mix, signing the veteran righthander to a minor league contract that includes an invite to spring training. Hawkins' agency announced the signing via Twitter early Thursday morning.

Hawkins, 40, proved effective for the Angels last season when he went 2-3 with a 3.64 ERA. If he were to make the roster, the Mets would be his 10th big league club. He also did a stint with the Yankees in 2008.

Hawkins joins fellow veterans such as Pedro Feliciano and Scott Atchison, who have recently signed minor league deals for the chance to win spots in the Mets bullpen.
