Longoria has 4 RBIs as Rays sweep Rangers
Evan Longoria hit a solo homer and drove in four runs Wednesday to help the host Tampa Bay Rays beat the Texas Rangers, 8-6, completing a sweep of the three-game series between potential playoff opponents.
Tampa Bay, which began the day tied with the Yankees for the AL East lead, has won five straight overall.
Longoria also had two RBI doubles and a sacrifice fly. James Shields (11-11) allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings, stopping his two-game slide.

Daniel Nava drove in the go-ahead run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, then prevented Los Angeles from scoring with a diving catch for host Boston.
Braves 3, Nationals 2
Jason Heyward's run-scoring single in the ninth inning helped host Atlanta win for the 21st time in their final swing, which leads the majors. They also improved baseball's best home record to 44-16, maintaining their 2 1/2-game lead on Philadelphia in the NL East.
Phillies 8, Giants 2
Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer and Joe Blanton (5-6) pitched neatly into the seventh for host Philadelphia.
The two-time NL champions have won 20 of 25 and are two games ahead of San Francisco in the wild-card race.
Brewers 3, Cardinals 2
Randy Wolf (10-9) pitched three-hit ball into the ninth inning as visiting Milwaukee handed Adam Wainwright (17-7) his first home loss.
