The only way Mark Teixeira's game-tying two-run home run in the eighth inning of Saturday's game would have gone foul was if a construction crew had picked that moment to move the foul pole over about 100 feet.
But that didn't stop Teixeira from using the foul scenario as his explanation for an unusually slow walk out of the box after putting a charge into nemesis Vicente Padilla's pitch.
"I just wanted to make sure it was fair," Teixeira told reporters after the game.
Teixeira kept the act up later, tweeting about the home run from his verified account.
"Tough night for the @Yankees but we will get them tomorrow. Anybody else think my homer was going foul in the 8th inning?"
