Mets move R.A. Dickey's start up a day

Cy Young Award candidate R.A. Dickey could try for his 20th victory on Sept. 27, the Mets' final game at Citi Field this season. His next start comes on Saturday against the Marlins, one day before he was originally scheduled to pitch. With a victory, Dickey could try for the 20-win mark in the home finale against the Pirates.

"I thought it was a great idea," manager Terry Collins said.

Dickey and pitching coach Dan Warthen proposed the schedule switch. The Mets have won just four games at Citi Field since the All-Star Break and they haven't scored more than three runs at home in a franchise-record 15 straight games. That lack of run support may not help Dickey's cause.

Nevertheless, Dickey may have a better chance of winning at home considering his history at Turner Field, where he would have made a start had the Mets not adjusted their rotation. Dickey owns a 7.26 ERA in Atlanta which includes two rough starts earlier this season.

With the change, Dickey is lined up to pitch the penultimate game of the season Oct. 2 at Miami.
