Brodie Van Wagenen continued his makeover of the Mets’ front office on Wednesday by hiring Red Sox executive Allard Baird as the team’s vice president of player development and scouting.

Baird, 57, was Boston’s vice president of player personnel. He was the general manager of the Kansas City Royals from 2000-06.

“We are excited to continue to bolster our front office with senior leadership,” Van Wagenen said in a statement. “Allard has a championship resume and played a key role in helping the Red Sox win three World Series titles. He will be a great resource to myself and our entire baseball operations department.”

On Tuesday, the Mets hired 33-year-old Adam Guttridge as an assistant general manager in charge of the analytics department, according to a source.

Van Wagenen’s team also will include special assistant Omar Minaya, the former Mets general manager. Longtime assistant general manager John Ricco has been participating in interviews – most recently of new bench coach Jim Riggleman – but the Mets have not said if Ricco is remaining with the club.

J.P. Ricciardi, another special assistant who was running the team along with Minaya and Ricco after the departure of general manager Sandy Alderson in June, left the organization this month.

“I’m thrilled to join the Mets and am ready for this opportunity to help build the Mets into perennial contenders,” Baird said in a statement. “A key ingredient that drew me to this role was Brodie’s leadership and vision.”

Baird joined the Red Sox in 2006 as a special assignment scout. He served under three different general managers with Boston, with Dave Dombrowski the most recent one.

“You never like to lose a good baseball man, but, this was a great opportunity for Allard,” Dombrowski told The Boston Globe before the Mets announced Baird’s hiring. “His responsibilities will be filled internally by members of our organization.”

It is unclear if Van Wagenen’s front-office moves are complete. The Mets still need to hire a hitting coach and bullpen coach to round out manager Mickey Callaway’s 2019 staff.
