Ike: It's all luck...
Ike Davis credits luck more than skill when it comes to his jaw-dropping foul-territory snags.
“There’s no science to it,” the first baseman said of his three tumbling catches over the Mets’ dugout railing. “It’s not something I really think about doing every game. It really is luck – not just catching the ball, but having the opportunity to do it.”
Davis said he often scouts the dimensions of visiting ballparks – particularly the dugouts -- before games to see how far he can roam.
“I look at the foul territory and see if anything jags out,” he said. “Or if I have to worry about a gap, or if there’s a hole somewhere I have to pay attention to.”
