ST. LOUIS — Mike Pelfrey drove from his Kansas home, did some throwing, said many hellos and left before the media arrived. Pelfrey had Tommy John surgery May 1 and might be non-tendered by the Mets, making him a free agent. If he does come back, the manager said he could be a reliever. In any event, Terry Collins said: “Mike is one of my favorite guys. He was really upbeat, he feels great.”
