Morrow walks five in 4-run inning as Jays lose to Bosox
Brandon Morrow set a Blue Jays record by walking five batters in one inning as the Red Sox scored four runs in the second and went on to a 7-6 win last night at Fenway Park.
The Red Sox needed just one hit in that inning to take the lead, a cushion that came in handy when John Lackey (4-1) struggled through six innings before three relievers held the Blue Jays hitless.
Jonathan Papelbon worked the ninth for his ninth save in nine chances.
Toronto lost for only the second time in nine games. Boston is 6-2 in its last eight.
Phillies 9, Rockies 5
Ross Gload hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer in the visiting Phillies' four-run ninth. Carlos Ruiz had four hits, including a solo homer for Philadelphia. Jason Giambi went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Rockies.
Reds 2, Pirates 1Bronson Arroyo (2-2) limited Pittsburgh to one run in seven-plus innings and Scott Rolen and Laynce Nix doubled home runs for the visiting Reds.
The Reds won for the 10th time in 14 games.
Braves 8, Brewers 2
Martin Prado hit a grand slam, Atlanta's first in 253 games, and Tommy Hanson (3-2) pitched eight scoreless innings for the visiting Braves. The Braves had gone four days without a homer before Troy Glaus led off the sixth with a shot off Brewers starter Doug Davis (1-4).
Marlins 4, Cubs 2
Ronny Paulino's two-run homer highlighted a three-run seventh in which Cody Ross stole home for the Marlins.
Heralded Cubs rookie Starlin Castro, who set a major league record by driving in six runs in his debut at Cincinnati on Friday, committed three errors and was booed in his first game at Wrigley Field. - AP
