NL report: Soriano blasts two homers for Cubs

Cubs 10, Diamondbacks 5Alfonso Soriano hit a pair of two-run homers and host Chicago finally gave Tom Gorzelanny some offensive support Sunday. Marlon Byrd also hit a two-run shot for the Cubs, who won the last three games of the series following a loss in the opener. After managing only three runs in two losses to Washington, the Cubs scored 33 times against Arizona.

Braves 7, Astros 1Jason Heyward and Melky Cabrera each drove in three runs and host Atlanta completed a three-game sweep and left Houston with a six-game losing streak. The Braves outscored the Astros 21-4 in their first three-game sweep of Houston since 2003. Heyward had two hits.

Cardinals 6, Reds 0Chris Carpenter pitched seven innings of two-hit ball and Albert Pujols broke it open with a three-run double in the seventh as St. Louis wrapped up a 6-1 homestand. David Freese homered for the third time in four games on a three-hit day and Ryan Ludwick and Brendan Ryan had an RBI apiece for St. Louis.

Marlins 9, Nationals 3Hanley Ramirez drove in four runs with two homers, Josh Johnson overcame a slow start and host Florida rallied. The Marlins took the rubber game to win a series for the first time in two weeks.

Dodgers 9, Pirates 3Andre Ethier homered twice and drove in four runs, Blake DeWitt had his first four-hit game in the majors and James Loney added a pair of run-scoring hits to lead host Los Angeles.

Padres 8, Brewers 0Host San Diego shut out Milwaukee for the third time in four games, winning on a combined three-hitter by Jon Garland and two relievers.

Rockies 4, Giants 1Jhoulys Chacin pitched seven scoreless innings for his first career win, Melvin Mora hit a two-run single and Colorado avoided being swept in San Francisco.
