WASHINGTON -- Jurors in the Roger Clemens perjury trial met for 3 1/2 hours Wednesday afternoon without reaching a verdict on the six-count indictment of the former Yankees star pitcher and will reconvene Monday morning after a four-day recess.
The jury asked U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton for a list of the exhibits presented during the two-month-long trial, and defense lawyer Rusty Hardin and Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven Durham said they would provide one.
The 12-member jury is working without any alternates after Walton dismissed two jurors for sleeping during the trial, excused another whose mother had died and on Tuesday allowed a fourth to leave for a six-month fellowship in Germany.
The jury of eight women and four men has a Treasury Department official, an environmental lawyer, a Canadian embassy aide, a Smithsonian researcher, an occupational therapist, a teacher of the deaf, a bioengineer, a librarian, two program analysts and two retirees.
