Operation shutdown for Matt Harvey
When righthander Matt Harvey (3-5, 2.92 ERA) completes his start Wednesday night against the Phillies, manager Terry Collins said he will be shut down for the rest of the year, which includes throwing bullpens on the side.
Harvey will be opposed by lefty Cole Hamels (15-6, 3.06 ERA).
Innings limits may mean that Harvey's done pitching for the season. But he may not be done hitting.
"We'll pinch hit him, keep his bat on the bench a little bit," Collins said, half-jokingly.
Harvey is hitting .375 (6-for-16) with a pair of doubles since he was called up.
