Orioles slow down Angels

The Los Angeles Angels' playoff push was slowed when Tommy Hunter pitched seven shutout innings for the host Baltimore Orioles in an 8-3 victory Friday night. The Angels started the day trailing first-place Texas by 31/2 games in the AL West. The Rangers played late last night.

Royals 7, White Sox 6: Eric Hosmer doubled in the winning run in the ninth inning for host Kansas City.

Cardinals 4, Phillies 2: Adron Chambers drove in the go-ahead run with his first major-league hit in the 11th inning for visiting St. Louis. Albert Pujols went 4-for-4 for the Cardinals, who moved to withing 31/2 games of the Braves for the NL wild card.

Giants 9, Rockies 1: Madison Bumgarner allowed one unearned run in seven innings and hit a two-run double for visiting San Francisco, now five games out of the wild card.

Brewers 6, Reds 3: Ryan Braun homered twice for visiting Milwaukee.

Marlins 3, Nationals 0: Javier Vazquez (11-11) threw a shutout to lead visiting Florida.

Cubs 4, Astros 3: Marlon Byrd's single in the 12th inning drove in the winning run for host Chicago. -- AP
