Pete Rose to manage game for Bridgeport Bluefish

Pete Rose, baseball's all-time hit leader who was banned from the sport for betting on games while managing the Cincinnati Reds, will be back in the dugout for the first time in 25 years.
The Bridgeport Bluefish of the independent Atlantic League announced yesterday that Rose will be in uniform to manage one game on June 16, against the visiting Lancaster Barnstormers.
"I'm doing this because I love baseball," Rose said during a conference call. "I love young players because they bring you one thing you need in sports: enthusiasm. These young men are here working their butts off. They don't have egos; they are hungry. They run hard and they play hard all the time."
Rose last managed a game on Aug. 24, 1989.
