Prince Fielder and Delmon Young homered on consecutive pitches in the sixth inning to support Max Scherzer and help the host Detroit Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels, 5-2, Sunday.

Scherzer (14-6) gave up one run and struck out nine in seven innings. Joaquin Benoit struck out two more in a perfect eighth, and Jose Valverde struck out another batter while closing it out. Angels righthander Ervin Santana allowed four runs and five hits in seven innings.

Twins 6, Rangers 5: Ben Revere had four hits, Cole De Vries won for the first time in nearly two months and visiting Minnesota snapped a five-game skid. Josh Hamilton hit his 35th homer for Texas and drove in four runs, giving him a major league-leading 111 RBIs.

White Sox 4, Mariners 3: Tyler Flowers hit a go-ahead two-run homer just before the final downpour for host Chicago in a rain-shortened, seven-inning game.

Braves 7, Giants 1: Tim Hudson pitched seven strong innings for his seventh consecutive victory and Paul Janish tripled home two runs for visiting Atlanta.

Marlins 6, Dodgers 2: Rob Brantly gave Miami the lead for good with his first big- league home run, and the Marlins also got long balls from Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Reyes and Carlos Lee in the finale of an 11-game road trip.

Brewers 7, Pirates 0: Mark Rogers allowed three hits over five innings, Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez homered for visiting Milwaukee.

Cubs 5, Rockies 0: Chris Volstad ended a 24-start winless streak for host Chicago in a rain-shortened, eight-inning game.

Cardinals 8, Reds 2: Matt Holliday had four hits and four RBIs to help visiting St. Louis. Allen Craig homered and drove in three runs.

Phillies 4, Nationals 1: Cliff Lee tossed seven sharp innings for host Philadelphia. Jimmy Rollins hit a two-run homer and Laynce Nix had a solo shot to back Lee.

Padres 5, Diamondbacks 4: Edinson Volquez pitched seven effective innings for visiting San Diego's seventh win in row. -- AP
