Scott Rolen drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning with a sharp infield single that third baseman Hanley Ramirez failed to handle, lifting the Cincinnati Reds to a come-from-behind 6-5 win over the Miami Marlins yesterday.

Jay Bruce started the comeback with his second home run and third of the season, an opposite-field drive into the left-center field seats that cost Marlins new closer Heath Bell (0-1) a save in his first opportunity.

Marlins starter Carlos Zambrano retired 13 of 14 batters in one stretch, including 12 straight before Bruce homered with two outs in the sixth inning to give Cincinnati a 4-2 lead.

Lefthander Aroldis Chapman (1-0) pitched two shutout innings of relief for the win.

Pirates 5, Phillies 4: Andrew McCutchen singled home pinch runner Josh Harrison with two outs in the bottom of the ninth for Pittsburgh. Pedro Alvarez homered and Casey McGehee hit two doubles for the Pirates.

Cubs 4, Nationals 3: Jeff Samardzija pitched into the ninth, allowing four hits and only one earned run for host Chicago. He struck out eight as the Cubs shook off two wrenching losses.

Cardinals 9, Brewers 3: Lance Lynn pitched two-hit ball into the seventh for visiting St. Louis in his third career start. Ryan Braun hit his first home run for the Brewers.

Diamondbacks 7, Giants 6: Ryan Roberts and Lyle Overbay hit consecutive two-out homers off Matt Cain in the sixth and host Arizona tied a franchise record by rallying from six runs down.

Padres 8, Dodgers 4: Chase Headley hit a grand slam and Andy Parrino had his first big- league homer for host San Diego

Astros 3, Rockies 2: Brian Bogusevic drove in the go-ahead run after Jose Altuve scored on Jordan Pacheco's throwing error to tie it in the eighth for host Houston. -- AP
