Jose Reyes made his spring debut with the Miami Marlins Tuesday and hit a line drive to third in his first at-bat.

Reyes went 0-for-3 in a 3-1 exhibition loss to the Tigers in his first game with his new team, but the defending National League batting champion isn't concerned with his results yet.

"Spring training is all about feeling good at the plate and putting a good swing on the ball," said Reyes, who also flew out to left and grounded into a fielder's choice.

"It's nothing different. It's baseball. It's still the same game, but with a different uniform. It was kind of exciting to get on the field in a real [game] with my new team. It was good."

McCutchen's new deal

The Pittsburgh Pirates and All-Star centerfielder Andrew McCutchen, 25, agreed to a six-year, $51.5-million deal . . . Infielder Carlos Guillen, a three-time All-Star and 14-year veteran, announced his retirement. Guillen, 36, hit .285 during his career with Seattle (1998-2003) and the Tigers (2004-11).
