The former Mets, Rays and Angels pitcher is expected to sign with the Independent Sugar Land Skeeters out of Houston, according to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal.
The 28-year old made just one start for the Angels in 2011, and was released by the club on June 15 despite having $14.5 million guaranteed remaining on his contract.
This past winter, multiple teams including the Mets, showed interest in the left-hander when he worked out in front of MLB scouts.
In his eight year career, Kazmir is 66-61 with a 4.17 ERA and 993 strikeouts. In 2004, Kazmir was traded by the Mets to the Rays in a deal that the Mets received Victor Zambrano.
