Strasburg leads Nationals past Reds
Stephen Strasburg, Washington's hard-throwing rookie, contained the host Reds' high-scoring lineup last night, and a slumping Nationals offense finally came around behind Cristian Guzman's homer, pulling away to an 8-5 victory.
A day after he turned 22, Strasburg (5-2) passed one of his toughest tests.
The Reds lead the National League in batting average, hits and RBIs. Strasburg struck out seven and gave up three runs and seven hits in 51/3 innings.

Billy Wagner blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning, and pinch hitter Nick Hundley's two-run double in the 12th lifted visiting San Diego.

Rookie Jaime Garcia (9-4) gave up four hits in seven innings. Matt Holliday's homer in the seventh was the go-ahead hit for host St. Louis.

Gaby Sanchez hit a three-run homer to back Ricky Nolasco, who pitched eight innings and reached 10 wins for the third straight season for host Florida.

Evan Longoria homered, drove in two runs and scored twice, and visiting Tampa Bay blew a four-run lead before rebounding to win.

Matt Watson hit his first career homer and Jack Cust added a two-run shot that helped host Oakland to its third straight series win. The A's have won seven of eight.

Francisco Liriano (8-7) worked out of trouble for seven innings for host Minnesota.
Tigers 4, Rangers 1
Max Scherzer (7-7) threw seven shutout innings and Gerald Laird hit a two-run homer, helping host Detroit snap a seven-game losing streak.
