Sunday reading: Cliff Lee, winners and losers
Greetings from Ann Arbor, MI, where yesterday I took in an all-time favorite event: The Big Chill at The Big House, an outdoor hockey game at Michigan Stadium. A record (unofficial count) 113,411 people attended. Awesome.
FWIW, BTW, when I went to school at Michigan, no one called our football stadium "The Big House." We just called it "the Stadium," like Yankee Stadium. I think Brent Musburger came up with the "Big House" thing in the mid-90s. No thanks.
Anyway...
--With Cliff Lee not having yet decided - or, to be more precise, at the least not informing his suitors of his decision - I wrote a column discussing some of the theories out there about Lee.
--I'll do a more complete "Winners and Losers" list for all 30 teams once all of the Type A free agents have signed, but I thought this past week was interesting enough to do "Winter Meetings Winners and Losers."
--Self-promotion alert: I'll be on "Sports Extra," on Fox 5 in New York, tonight at 10:30, talking baseball with Duke Castiglione. We'll see whether we have big news to discuss on the show.
--Have a great day.
