Dodgers manager Joe Torre says he will decide by Labor Day if he will retire after the season. That doesn't mean he'll make his decision public by the first week of September.

Torre, 70, in the last season of his three-year contract with Los Angeles, says he will not announce his plans until the team's postseason outlook is clear. The Dodgers are nine games behind first-place San Diego in the NL West.

Torre says he hopes he still has an option to return to the Dodgers in 2011. He says he still enjoys managing and is "very comfortable" with the Dodgers.
