Travis D'Arnaud optioned to minors; Matt den Dekker breaks wrist

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Mets general manager Sandy Alderson just briefed the media with a few updates:
"I know people talk about control and Super Two and all of that," Alderson said. "If John Buck gets hurt tomorrow, Travis d'Arnaud is the frontline catcher."
It's a strong indication of how highly the Mets view d'Arnaud. The Mets somewhat revealed their thoughts on d'Arnaud by keeping him in minor league camp for so long. Had he been injured in the last week and missed the beginning of the season, d'Arnaud would have earned major league service time. Under those circumstances, he would have earned Super Two status.
Said Alderson: "He met all of our expectations, which I think for the organization and Mets fans, were fairly high."
