According to published reports, teams interested in Jorge Soler, the Cuban outfielder whom the Yankees scouted during the winter and was just declared a free agent, have until Thursday to submit bids.
The Yankees like the 20-year-old Soler “a lot,” one team source said, but it remains to be seen if they’re willing to bid the $25 million-$35 million it’s expected to land the outfielder.
Meanwhile, Joe Girardi said Brett Gardner (strained right elbow), one day after taking five at-bats in an extended spring game, felt some “stiffness” in his elbow but nothing concerning.
“I’m not surprised when he hasn’t played since April 17,” Girardi said.
